All over the city, there are surveillance cameras. On street corners, attached to traffic lights, in the corners of shops, outside houses, in hallways, inside clinics and offices… but amidst all this, there are blind spots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man had never imagined he would commit a theft. He was the owner of his factory and was relatively well-off. But not anymore. He had gone bankrupt. The problem was that the man was unaware of the complex tax and insurance laws. Because of this, he invited an old colleague to manage the factory’s accounting. However, they ran into trouble over salary payments. The old colleague, who was angry at him, revealed his true colors after some time and reported him to the judicial authorities. A small oversight on an administrative form… The sentence handed down to the man was so severe that he not only had to halt the production line but also spent all his assets paying the workers’ final wages and the fine. He lost everything he had. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Things were getting worse and worse. He had several young children, and his wife was bedridden due to Multiple Sclerosis. The man, unable to bear staying at home, wandered aimlessly through the streets. He leaned against a wall in a corner, lost in his thoughts. Suddenly, his eyes fell upon an elderly woman standing outside a jewelry store, struggling to take off her bangles. The old woman entered the store. The man was contemplating something that had never even occurred to him before. “It can\u2019t happen, I can’t, it’s impossible…” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The old woman came out of the store, holding a black bag that seemed quite heavy. He thought to himself, “She’s probably one of those elderly ladies who doesn’t know how to use a credit card.” The old woman tucked the bag into her purse and slowly started to walk away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man stood there; his eyes fixed on the old woman. His heart was pounding, and sweat was pouring down his face. A storm raged within him. He was bankrupt. Young children, a sick wife, betrayal by someone he trusted… None of these were fair. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He came to his senses and realized he was following the old woman at a distance. The old woman entered a deserted alley. The man glanced around. The alley was very old. There was no camera. Nobody could see him. The man quickened his pace and approached the old woman. For some people, when they know no one is watching, doing certain things becomes easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
