Need Assessment
With a deeper understanding of myself, I begin to see that my actual needs are not limited to the material world, but rather, innate, rooted in my very nature, although these two types of worldly and spiritual needs are not separate, and each must be recognized in its place. Just as my body needs nourishment, my soul also requires its own kind of sustenance.
Now I must assess the needs of both dimensions. What are the true needs of my body concerning my actual existence? Which dimension should I focus on more?
Should I choose the world or the hereafter? In this assessment, I understand that these are not two separate things; they are one in two manifestations: a manifestation in multiplicity and unity.
In the manifestation of multiplicity, my needs do not conflict with the manifestation of unity. I should nourish both appropriately. The food for my body is meat and rice; the food for my spiritual heart is intellection. Intellection is what religions have brought. Intellection is not just outward worship.
