Who is the Educator?
In this school, no one is another's educator, and it is not intended for anyone to educate another one or open the path of awareness for him. Principals do not educate the deputies, nor do the deputies educate teachers, nor do teachers educate students. From the perspective of the Oswatun Hasana School of Thought, the only educator and mentor in existence is Allah. By looking within himself, man discovers his innate nature and polishes and refines the mirror of his existence by journeying on the path of self-knowledge. Thus, the main educator, the Lord, provides the groundwork and sets the path for movement. But what is our role?
The Outcome of a School Based on the Oswatun Hasana School of Thought or a Student with Epistemic Knowledge:
The process of the Oswatun Hasana School of Thought and the inner journey of the teacher provide a foundation for the student to discover his own path and ultimately attain a level of self-awareness and understanding that enables him to be a wise and effective member both for himself and for his community. This student navigates the path of this School of Thought independently, without external direction. In any context, whether studying or learning the principles and branches of religion, he chooses him own path. When the student follows his heart, rather than his mind, along the path of his innate nature, God willing, his choices will be based on a monotheistic worldview. Thus, generally speaking, a student who is graduated from this School is with a monotheistic worldview, capable of establishing a strong and reciprocal relationship with the world and existence; therefore, he progresses gradually and continuously without stagnation until he realizes his ideals. His goal is the emergence of a monotheistic worldview and the attainment of rationality.
The Epistemic School:
In most schools, the focus of students' presence is on learning and acquiring knowledge. However, in the epistemic school, the focus is not merely on learning and knowledge acquisition. In this school, whenever the term 'student' or 'audience' is used, it refers to all individuals who are being educated. The 'epistemic school' refers to a school where all individuals, regardless of their position and duties, are trainees and under the education of the Oswatun Hasana School of Thought. For example, a teacher, while teaching, also finds his own path of education through the students' words and actions. Even principals and staff view their duties as a foundation for self-knowledge and the emergence of their abilities.
The Teacher in a School Based on the Oswatun Hasana School of Thought or the Epistemic Teacher
In an epistemic school, the teacher is one who, by looking inside, understands the journey of the true educator, which is innate nature and existence, and plans the path for himself and his students based on the groundwork laid and needs assessment. In this School of Thought, the teacher introspects and avoids a negligent view of the phenomena of existence. Through effort, self-purification, perseverance, and overcoming trials, he gains a deeper perspective on matters, becoming wiser and more attentive. Gradually, all preconceptions are set aside, and with the light of Truth, which he has found within, he sees, hears, and acts: he no longer has his own opinion but sees with the perspective of Truth. In this regard, the Prophet, Muhammad (a), says in a Qudsi Hadith:
"...No servant seeks nearness to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him. My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary acts until I love him; when I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his tongue with which he speaks, and his hand with which he strikes. If he asks Me, I will surely give him, and if he seeks refuge with Me, I will surely grant him refuge."
The teacher realizes what path the True Educator has prepared for him and his students, no longer creating the groundwork based on his thoughts and ideas: he knows that the main facilitator is the Lord. He understands that everything in the path of himself and his students, all hardships and ease, is a groundwork God provides for education. The loss of a student's parent and his students' differences are examples of the grounds that the True Educator has placed for students to grow. This is where the teachers' responsibilities are formed...
